Another Scorpion question

I saw the post on de-tuning the pointer and it got me to thinking... I've noticed at volleyball courts that I can't get closer than a couple to possibly as much as 3ft near the uprights (metal) or the concrete edges (rebar) with my Scorpion! I've monkeyed with the sensitivity a bit and it seems to get somewhat better, but is there some way to tune it to allow getting closer? I have a 'scoop' and sifter, so I can just sift what I can't detect right now..but that's time consuming!

Come up to the posts with the SIDE of your coil/you can get closer, than using the tip, and listen for the double beep of your target, as your swing returns, no double beep-no target, single beep=steel pole :detecting:

Thanks! I'll try it!
