another ring find at park.

decided to return to where I found the gold ring yesterday. first on the to do list was collect dirt from area where ring came from. loaded it into my gold pan, backfilled with other dirt from mole hill close by. will pan later and hope I can find the missing stones. only dug for about a hr and not much found. a few pull tabs, and misc modern clad. came across a few more deep nickels. moved down the slope to where it borders a small creek and nice big trees. only real interesting find was this old ring that is only partial. wasn't sure what it was at first til I took a closer look and saw what looked like opal! this thing has been in the dirt forever and looks to have been gold plated. just the stone setting and stones remained behind. opal is real and quite possible real rubies! if not rubies, garnets? cleaned it up a little but it's so fragile I'm just gonna leave it as is and put it into my ring collection! happy hunting everyone.

Nice ring, not sure why but I really enjoy finding the old jewelry. Even in less than presentation condition. Good hunts!
