Friday, after work, it started to rain. When I made home, it stopped for a little while. Headed to the beach - cold out. Started hunting. The coil worked good. I was there about 40 minutes. Pennies were on the surface and down 4 inches. The quarters were wrapped in paper together and rang as half dollar, down 6 inches. The metal was of the side of a cap gun, down about 4 inches. I don't think they make this type anymore. I start hunting in 'all metal' when I swing through junk and hear that ringing. I start snooping around and switch to 'jewerly' and then 'coin'. It seems a lot is missed because the other junk over powers it, so you might miss it in 'coin' mode. The other coins on left were from school yard, depth from surface to about 9 inches. Most dimes I have been picking up come from 4 to 8 inches. These are not very old sites, from about 1962. I did a little air test in 'all metal' mode with quarters 10 to 11 inches, power at 7notch, dimes 8 1/2 to 9 inches, pennies at 6 to 7 inches. I think it does better in the field because of halo and rust. I really like this coil so far. I have ran it though junk areas that I know and it handles very well. I hunted behind the baseball backstop and where every one sits, found lot of cans and pull tabs, but still pulled coins out. I DONT KNOW IF I WILL PUT STOCK COIL BACK ON! When you hit a dime at 7 or 8 inches, it sounds like the stock coil at 4 inches. As big as it is, you can still seperate pretty well from junk. The ground readings from my MXT say gnd is from 60 to 85, Beach is 83 85, so the Garrett handles well around here, even in spots where the MXT had a hard time even with the Mini DD coil. Still need time to try it out some more. I picked up some more coins today, but not in the picture, mostly dimes. It's been raining Friday and Saturday. Also, Hot Wheel rang in at 12 inches on air test. Picked up some coins today, mostly dimes, from 4 to 8 inches. Air test was measured with standard ruler. Good luck and good hunting.[attachment 9235 DSCN5004.JPG]
