Another reason why I like Pro zero, 0 iron

When you hear everything and hit a lot of targets it tells you to slow way down and start listening for good hits.

Went out for a little bit at a small old cottage and there was a ton of iron. I slowed way down and in a small area I got 3 quarters, 2 dimes, 2 nickels, 4 pennies and a 1941 wheat penny. Also dug 2 canning lids with the glass in it, a bullet, part of a toy car, and anther thing I don't know what it is.

I am liking the AT Pro and pro zero is the way for me. I need to get in the water.

This picture shows why I run my AT Pro in Pro Mode with 00 discrimination...if I would have had the discrimination set at 35-40 like alot of people like to run...I would probably would have not heard this keycard and missed this today. The penny is inside that thick iron ring. It was a very, very odd signal with lots of scratchy iron audio...and just a faint hint of a high tone mixed in.

- blanking out iron - discriminating it in other words - masks all sort of things besides iron.
I prefer to know its there, than just trying to stop hearing it.

I run mine in Pro Zero and no disc!.......I learned this last year with my minelab safari and have never disc since. Bottom line is...you are missing so many targets notching out .....it would blow your mind . . but everyone has to do their own thing and being confident in what you believe is sometimes the best for success...it keeps you out there. Like bow hunting..knowing you havent practiced shooting...why would you stay in your stand very long knowing that when a deer comes by..your probubly gonna miss anyways

I agree with that. One should use whatever fits them the best. Listening to the low tones I think is important to get the overall picture but there seems to be a little confusion as what the Iron Audio is.

When you are running Pro Zero and no disc, you need to turn the Iron Audio off in order to hear the low tones. If you turn Iron Audio on with a 00 disc, all you will hear is the Mid and High tones. The Disc setting is also the setting for the Low-Mid tone break point.

So if you set the Disc at 40 and leave the Iron Audio off all you hear is Mid and High tones. Turning the Iron Audio on gives you all three tones again so even though the Disc is set at 40 you are still listening to everything but with the added bonus of the Iron Audio speed and recovery.

I use both of these sets of settings depending on the type of ground that I am detecting. Sometime it is just way too much rapid fire machine gun chatter with the Iron Audio turned on so Pro Zero with no Disc is smoother.

This is just the way I do it but in the final analysis it is up to each person to figure out what works for them, and most of all have fun swinging the At Pro.

I will also hunt this way. I will often suggest for new users to use std mode, disc to 40. You will find alot of coins this way (also I am not looking for iron). This is a confidence builder and works. Zero mode is huge. I dont dig low tones I dig med tones. The AT is loaded with suprises.

Some still think that PRO means professional- Its actually short for proportional.sound .. You are not one because you bought one. LOL
