Well after 30 years I think I finally broke into the 1700's with what I believe is a 1/2 reale. Old fairgrounds payed off big today with a beautiful 1838 large cent, 2 barber dimes 1900 O and 1902, 3 mercs 1925,1940 and 1944, 1907 V nickel, 1924 Buffalo and a very interesting token. I do love this E-trac!!!!!!!! HH
absolutely amazing finds from a public FG. My FG is in the same spot since 1860's and all i have ever got is a few indians and a couple silver dimes. I have hunted and hunted it, just no luck!
Looks like it could be a Half Reale to me !
Here's a few photo's of a 1783 Half Reale I found last year - approx. the same diameter as a dime and about half as thick as a dime.

Thanks for the 2nd opinion. That's exactly the size and thickness you described. I just wish it had a date so I would know for sure if it was 1700's. HH
