Larry and I went to the rental property close by in-between rains. I was wanting to go there since 6:00 this morning. Finally the rains quit and we headed to the house. We both were working the yard and the owner came and chatted with us and wished us luck. At that time we hadn't found much at all except a piece of scrap now and then. Shortly afterwards I began to get a few good targets. Came across three wheats 1918-D, 1921 and 1939. About a foot away was another good signal. Turned out to be the 1918-D Merc. dime. Then about 3 feet away was another deeper signal and that was the 1866 Shield Nickel with Rays. Couldn't believe it! Right off the bat I saw it was a nickel in the hole and I was wishing for a Buffalo, but when I picked it up, I saw the shield and it blew my mind. After I put it in my water container, it started raining. I went over to where Larry was hunting and we started for the truck. All the targets were about 4-5 inches deep. We came home and I made sandwiches and it's still pouring down rain. We live less than a mile away from the rental, so if it stops raining, we'll go back again. I told Larry to "Pinch me." Glad I wasn't dreaming. So far we've taken 86 Wheat cents and MANY other keeper coins out of that yard. Thanks for looking and HH to all, Nancy
