Another Quickie...Quarter

Another quick hour in the old schoolyard gets a Wheatie, 3 marvelous pulltabs, and this beauty. I cannot over emphasize the importance of slow methodical sweeping with the AT Pro. I know I have swept this part of the area before, but patience, Patience, PATIENCE really does pay off. For those waiting for first silver, research for those older areas and work at it!

Amen to that, AJ! and 'scrub' the ground. Nice silver !!

I have to swing mine fast at times to get a better reading. If I swing fast over a target ot sounds off. When I go slow it misses it. I always dig the fast swing high tones and 95% time I get a coin. For some reason slow swings somtimes do not register. Hope someone can chime in and maybe answer why..

Well, my settings are Pro Custom, Fe disc. at 28, and Fe Audio to on. I think Garrett's recommendation for swing speed of 3 feet per second is perfect. When a potentially good target sounds off, then one should fiddle around with swing speed and different angles over the target. I focus on the sounds and only use the VDI as a rough guide.

You use about the same as me but I use 35 ID with IA on. I do swing from all angles. I would like to try the 5x8 coil and see how it works. Some areas I hunt are really trashy.

Pretty silver coin!
This issue, besides finding is very interesting.
I try to bring the swing recommend 3 feet per second, in clean areas, meadows and beaches with low amount of trash.
Normally operated Zero PRO mode and iron disc. zero. When I have a call, consult the VDI and change the speed of the swing. I can also switch to Custom Coins, iron disc. 40 until the target center if there is trash around. If the target is too deep too fast swing helps locate, I think ... When the area is used by many people holidays, pilgrimages and fairs, with a lot of garbage, many aluminum rings and plugs, then my swing is slow, as if levitating coil, checking and consulting VDI numbers, avoiding all under 60, you can dig a thousand more aluminum rings.
You may not understand but the important thing is to work with the machine and use all possibilities offered little by little we know better.
best regards
