Another question on Excalibur

I hip mount my new Excal with a 10" coil. I find the off balance using the 10" coil will ware me out in a short time. I think this sound funny since most use it on the straight rod but would it be easier on my arm to straight rod the machine or get the 8" coil? If I get a connector and use a 8 inch coil will this void my warranty?

Thank's
HH TOM

Yes it will void your warrany changing the coil, you should go with the shaft tha mark west central fla, sells I use it a straight 6 hours and i'am not tired or sore, i think he sells them for almost 80.00 bucks, because i had the bill babbs shaft, not that it isn't a good shaft, but the way you can mount most of your machine toward the back the more weight it takes of your arm, he sells them on ebay under minelab. hope this helps you, HH Harold in Fla.

The straight shaft will be better than the 8" coil. It changes the whole dynamic...very nice with the weight in the rear. Compared to the way you have it now, it will seem like it's swinging itself.

Thank's Mike... I think I will get the straight shaft and hope this helps plus I know it's better for the detector.

It looks to be long. I have a car and usually put my detectors in the trunk. Will this fit or do you have to take apart to put into the trunk?

All you have to do is push in a button on the lower shaft and shorten it. In fact at the shortest position it can be used for diving. He purposely doesn't use a shaft lock on the lower part so that it doesn't get jammed up with sand. I flush mine out with fresh water after each hunt to keep it moving freely. Also, I have never felt a need for a "knob guard". I really don't understand why some people feel that this is necessary. The knobs are no more exposed on a straight shaft than when on the stock Minelab shaft. ~John

I just bought and exclabier which arrived yesterday. I also order the shaft from Mark it came today. I took it out at lunch and hunted a play ground it is well worth the money. goodluck and enjoy. Also it has a lot of adjustment holes so even though the pic looks long it compact easy to fit in a detector bag.

Tom i think it's the best way to go, it sure saves your arm alot, and about changeing the coil, you can wait till your warranty runs out and then change it if you still think it's too heavy. HH Harold

Tom,
I use Mark's Shaft and it is the most balanced and comfortable straight shaft in the market. I tried several and paid more for others but this one is a quality product. If you hip mount you may damage the coil wires. If you are going to hunt for awhile in the water or sand you want to feel comfortable.

I will buy one after the first of the month. I have a special rig on the wire to keep the strain off but still rather have it where there will be no problem. I will use my CZ20 until I get the new shaft.
Again Thank's
HH TOM

Can someone tell me where I can see a picture of Marks shafts and if it can be purchased someplace other than on E-bay. I wasn't able to find it on E-bay. Also are you able to easily adjust the control knobs with them in this location?

Thanks
