Another question about the 6000 XL Pro

Hunt4Fun

New member
I have been following the posted question from Tinfoil about the 6000 XL Pro. In some of the answers to his question, it was stated that the 6000 XL Pro could ID in all 4 modes. Well, no matter what I try, my XL Pro will not ID in GEB / NORM mode. In GEB / NORM the meter needle will swing upscale to indicate target depth but it will not lock up like a target ID no matter what sweep speed I use. Is there something wrong with my detector?

Good Hunting all,
Bob

they are suppose to ID in any mode. Sounds like it might be time to get yours checked out. :stretcher: HH Randy

For the XL Pro to I.D. in the GEB Norm mode the detector has to be switched to the GEB Norm on the control Housing. At least that was the way my 5900 di pro plus was.

With the trigger in the center position and the mode switch in any of the four modes the 6000/XL Pro will indicate probability. In any of those four modes if the trigger is pulled or pushed forward the detector will shift to depth indication until the trigger is returned to the center position.

When I get my mind made up I sometimes need to be knocked down to recognize that my thinking was wrong. Your answers were the knock down. I realized there was either something wrong with my XL Pro or there was something wrong with the way I was operating the machine.

I went back and re-read the instruction manual for the umpteenth time but this time with a more open mind. And .... there it was on page 24 of the manual. When the Mode Control is in any one of the four modes and the trigger is centered, the meter will indicate Target ID. If the trigger is then squeezed or locked forward, the machine will switch to another mode and the meter will switch to reading target depth. I won't even start to tell you how I thought the XL Pro was supposed to work but this wasn't it.

Sure glad you guys pointed me in the right direction. Now with my head somewhat straightened out, this opens up a lot more hunting methods for me.

Thanks again
Bob

I have had my XL Pro for about a year. I that year I have used GEB/DISC mode exclusively ....... because I didn't understand the XL Pro's capabilities. The XL Pro is very forgiving since it found over 5,000 coins even though I barely understood how to operate it. But now that I have your information I feel like a kid with a new toy.

THANKS AGAIN
Bob

that if you found over 5000 coins this year, without running it as designed, you are going to have a GREAT 2007!!! Keep us posted. HH Randy

What is the main difference in the 6000 XL and the 5900 Di. I own a 5900 Di and don't see any difference except color.
Thanks and HH
KY Bud

In addition to the obvious cosmetics, the 6000XL has AutoTrac instead of manual GB. And, the 6000XL (as well as the XLPro) use 8 AA batteries instead of the 4 C cells used by the 5900 Di and the 6000 Di. This reduced the weight of the detector, and improved the balance. HH Randy
