Super nice finds, keep us posted on what else you find at that site. It sure looks like you have a nice spot. I cannot really see the writing on that tag. Can you identify any writing on it? It looks like some type of ID badge from some NY soldier.

The tag has a pat.1865 date and re-issue date of 1870. The broken edges of the tag are thick and jagged as it seems to have been in a fire. The large flat button has designs around the edges and in the center.
