Another old yard...another dissapointment

I'm beginning to see a pattern here. I have hunted 4 yards in the last 2 weeks, all houses pre 1900's with one dated 1776. I got tons of memorial cents, one Merc and one beat Large Cent, 1851. Either the coins are too deep for the machine or there just isn't good coins to be found. I suppose some of these places could have been filled in or just the layers and layers of mulck from cutting the grass have added too many inches. I don't really feel like excavating a foot or so with the homeowner standing righ there, so I don't run the machine very hot. I was wondering if anyone else runs into this situation. I have much better luck in fields, but have taken to the lawns lately. Ron

<center> I had the same yrs back Ron
I think some are just too deep from fill and or mowing and yrs of it.

Not all are like that just like the woods and fields tho, some are great HOT spots as we know :D

100 years ago money was really tight and perhaps not much was lost..many yards have been filled in..some areas coins just drop too deep....all the above can account for your lack of production of old coins..One of these days you are going to run into an old yard that was busy over the years and has ground where coins don't drop deep and you will excel. I do agree digging really deep holes is a no=no and with the dry summer we are having wouldn't even think of yard hunting till the fall...
