Another old toy .Gas powered "1947 " Any of you remember this one?

This is another old toy that was found in the attic of the old house. I did alot of cleaning (and taken apart) and have gotten it working. I found out that it is a origanal 1947 " Roy Cox Thimble Drome Champain " gas car. Someone told me it COULD be worth a few hundred dollars. Do any of you older guys remember this one ? It is 20 years before my time.

Look up tether cars on ebay.

Yes. It is a "tether car" that was tied to a thin rope that was anchored in the dirt or held by someone who would get dizzy pretty fast having to turn with the rope as it went around. That appears to be a Cox 049 engine in it.

I saw one of these at a recent auction. I bid two hundred dollars and was beaten by a couple of hundred more. Yours runs- the one I bid on didn't.

If you took it out to the salt flats, I wonder how far it would go before it ran out of fuel...lol
