Another night hunt

It has been hotter than the blazes here during the day, so I have been hunting after dark. It is very relaxing, but it is kinda weird how your senses are heightened at night...Every little sound has me on edge sometimes. My neighborhood is not all that bad, but there are some shady characters here and there. Oldest coins found for 1 1/2 hours were a 1940 nickel, and 1947 Wheat Cent...I know there is silver in this field, but it is deep and the ground is too dry to dig more than about 4 inches right now.

HH,

Nice finds just keep it up and you will have all the small stuff out of your way when the ground softens up for for you to dig the silver.. Its hot and dry here in Missouri also .

Good Job ,

I do all my hunting at night, just too hot in the daytime. I hunt the beaches and I know what your saying about your senses being heightened.

Have you tried hunting in the evening after a rain? That ought to allow the ground to soften a bit. Due to eye problems I can't hunt at night and it's been blazing hot here in central Illinois too, the ground is hard and dry, my 49'er is finding the targets but they're mostly too deep to dig easily. I'm from New Mexico and this extreme humidity here kills me worse than anything I've experienced before, but right after a nice light rain shower is my favorite time to hunt.

Wish it would rain up here...this is the reason I have been hunting nights...We have had weeks now with little or no rain and 90+ temps
We will be the next Desert in the USA...

HH,

I am selective on the places I hunt at night...one is a ball field right next to a police station. They see me hunt the field durring the day all the time, and only the rookies have stopped to see what I was up to, then let me be...The other place is a lot next to a Elementary school, but far enough away from the school that noone bugs me. Plus I know the guy whos house borders the field. I have hunted one residential public park, and again, noone bugs me...I am usually out between 10pm-2am sometimes...I try to head home before the bars close. Don't run into many drunken monkeys that way.
