Another night hunt less than a mile from home

Found a rental house built in 1940 that I spotted on the way to the post office last week, and decided to give the owner a call. The "For Rent" sign had been removed from the front yard, so this was a time-sensitive matter! The owner told me that he had already rented the house and that the tenants are moving in on Sunday (today). I got there about 9:00pm last night and gave it a good 5 hours of scanning...

I used the 12khz "trashy park" program (a modification of Andy's High Performance coin program) with a liberal application of notch. I remember getting a LOT of 84s and 86s which were copper Memorial pennies interspersed with Wheats. The second notch terminated at "78" which allowed for Indians and very early Wheats, while ignoring the toastiest of zincolns. It worked - I only found two crusty zincolns this hunt and the only reason they were found was due to copper Memorials being in close proximity.

One spot near the corner of the house I received a faint high tone along with a "nickel" indication. This turned out to be a coin spill...a 1918 Wheat, 1946 Jefferson nickel, and a dateless Buffalo nickel were found in the same hole. Closeby were a couple more Wheats, most of the older coins were 4-5" down and this house had some trash, but not too excessive.

The only silver was a 1953 Rosie which came through as a solid "91". Didn't get a picture of the trash pile last night - I was beat after dealing with the Holiday crowds last week, and have a 6-day workweek ahead! There is a second hunt planned for the rental house in Memphis that gave up the Walker - probably Tues night. Stay tuned!

Taylor nice going. You deserve every bit of what you find, because you work hard to find good places to detect. Way to go!!!!!!!!!!!
