I'm new to this so new that my ace 250 should be here Tuesday.I'm in upstate New York so any advice would sure help.

Hey, welcome aboard!!! You made a great decision in going with the Ace 250. Super easy to use, basically just turn it on and go!!!! I just started last month too, see some of my big finds below.:detecting:

Welcome - I am a newbie also - Getting the hang of the 250. I now need to research the area and find some good hunting grounds.

Disregard the instructions in the manual and hunt in coins mode only until you become familiar with your machine. Set your sensitivity at four bars and leave it there for some time. Go through the archives here on the forum for loads of tips on the 250. Hunt in bark chip playgrounds until you figure your detector out and master the pinpointing.

I have only had my ACE 250 for about 6 weeks and it is the easiest detector to use that I have owned. It's a really great machine to start out on. I usually only hunt in the coin mode with the nickel slot tuned out in high trash areas.

Excellent videos! Good job. I bought my 250 last week on the net from Kellyco, and when I checked the tracking number found it was a week away. It's not supposed to be here till Thursday, but I checked UPS today and it's only hours away. I guess it needs to rest in Portland for a day before I get it. Hope to be making some decent finds soon. Your videos are inspiring!

 Your really going to enjoy that Ace 250, it's a great machine right out of the box, especially for the price. I also bought mine from Kellyco and you can't beat their prices for the detectors and the extras that you get along with it. It's simple to use, just push the power button and go. I'm a newbie also (about a month now) and have never used one before i bought mine. So far i've found quite a few things...most of which are pull tabs, (which you will find alot of), other pieces of aluminum, iron pieces and some pennies and nickles. I haven't posted any photos yet until i find something worthwhile to upload. The advise i was given when i joined these post areas was to carefully watch the readout where your detector hit, or beeped at, and to dig every time to familiarize yourself with how your detector reacts to different metals. I hope this helps you out.

I just got my 250 today, My son and I had a blast digging in the backyard, we found a key a few coins nails screws and an iron something or other. We had a blast and the next thing we knew it was dark and we were hungry!!!!
Looking forward to your finds. New york should have plenty to find!
