Hi all! I am a new member, I just found this site looking for info on my newest detector (post elsewhere).
I have been metal detecting for 40 yrs! Man I'm an old fart!
got my start as a civil war re-enactor in the early 70s. We used to camp on the various battlefields reenacting the battle for the
locals during town festivals etc.
It wasn't to long before someone produced a metal detector. Being interested in this new technology, we followed them and watched them produce Civil War Minnie balls! We were hooked. Wasn't to long till we were heading south just to relic hunt! We hooked up with some of our reenactor buddys and found alot of artifacts. I did several High school progects using found artifacts.
After High School I bought my first coinshooter a Whites 5000D. I found a set of silver pilots wings made into a ring. The first day I had it out on a local beach. Let's just say ... I was hooked!
two days later I was back at the local Whites dealer whom I had purchased my 5000D up grading to the top of the whites line a 6000D! This was still a few years away from the VDI series. Through the years I have had probally a dozen different detectors. Then I bought a Fisher 1280X and discovered water hunting, still my favorite way to dig goodies to this day.
Today I own 5 detectors ...
I still have a Whites XLT, the only Whites left. I have four Fishers. A CZ6A (my 1st choice) a CZ-20 is my water machine. I have a gold bug 2 that I just got this winter in AZ. AND I JUST BOUGHT A F75 SE two days ago. Wasnt planning this, it just appeared. This guy bought it from Kellyco last Oct. Only used it 2 or 3 times got frustrated and put it up for sale. Needless to say I got it for about half what he paid. I have NOT had a chance to swing this thing but I can't wait! I can already see how advanced this machine is compared to my older technoligy.
Boy I could continue on but I don't wanna bore you guys anymore then I already have!
I am interested in what you guys think of the new CZ-21. I may have to upgrade that one too!
