Hey guys, yes another new guy request. I am wanting to get into treasure hunting and have an opportunity to pick up a BH elite 2200 fairly cheap. I know it's a discontinued model, but is it a good starter detector?

Thanks for any input

The Elite is, in my opinion, the best metal detector for the money, even at the regular street price of $150. I suggest you search the archives of this forum to get some insight about it. I will guarantee you will like it. If you don't I just might buy it from you.
Here is the Bounty Hunter link: http://www.detecting.com/products/product.cmdl?c=a83bf3665b5649ed

I had not heard that it had been discontinued.

It is the same machine as the Discovery 2200: http://www.detecting.com/products/product.cmdl?c=1fed5c83f0754ac0

and

the same except for the coil, I believe as the Titan 2000 XD. http://www.detecting.com/products/product.cmdl?c=19f1dbf7671f4196

How much is the seller asking BTW?

Thanks for the reply Mark. I figured the Elite was discontinued as I can't find a new price anywhere. The seller is asking $100 for it

I have seen them new for $120, so If it hasn't been used too much and is in 100% new condition with the owner's manual etc. $100 is a decent price. Without the manual and if it is dinged or dirty etc, you might try negotiating a lower price of, say, $75.00.

Good luck and keep us informed.

Mark
