It was a great day today and the Excal 1000 is SMOKING HOT! I have been reading Andy Sabisch's, "Advanced Water Working Techniques" (highly recommended) and in the book he speaks about gridding. Mrchile does a lot of gridding too in the lake. I got 2 cinder blocks and a couple of lengths of nylon rope and some ski buoys. This may work best in lakes or bays where the water is more calm and target rich. Have not tried it in the surf yet. I put 1 buoy at about 25 yards out and the next 1 out about 50 yards or so. I work out to the buoy and back. When I get a signal. I work the circle pattern and continue. I used them for the 1st time on friday morning. I was hunting an area that I thought I had already hammered. I found $2.33 in clad and a TON of lead sinkers on that day (did not save this pic). This area has been used by fisherman and bathers for years.

Today, I moved my buoys over from where I had been on friday morning. I was in the water at 445A into a 643A -0.6L and SE 5-10 winds. Was hunting between waist and chest deep in the mine. Began to pick up targets and had the 4 gold rings before 7A. I just kept finding them, it was AMAZING! Clad count was $1.95 and the junker came to hand on the way back to the truck at 945A. As you can see, the lead lives where the gold lives. Savvy?
