Another large copper

Happy 4th of July! Went out this morning for a little over an hour before the mosquitoes prepared and organized attack and drove me away. Did manage to pull an 1852 Large Cent out of one of the areas I've been hunting recently. It blasted out a 12/47 on my CTX3030. As most earlier coppers in this area come out of the ground poorly, I'm happy with the way this one came out. In the past I've only pulled Indians from this site so it was a nice surprise to pop a large cent. It's my fourth large cent in the last 30 days.

Congrats! It's really beautiful in spite of the discoloration. Did you try soaking it in Olive Oil?

That doesn't get old does it. Nice find

Very Sweet! Nice looking coin! Find those never gets old!!

Never gets old, even after close to 35 years detecting. If I go out and find an old copper, an Indian or any piece of silver I consider it a good day. Although I like finding the old stuff, I'm also aware that when you favor that kind of detecting, you can swing your loop for a while without finding anything. Sometimes I get skunked and sometimes I have a great day. Not including the time spent driving to spots (mostly local) or studying old maps, I've probably put in close to 30 hours detecting in the last 30 days. I came up with 4 seated coins, 3 half reales and a two reale, 4 large cents, a colonial, 5 Indians, 4 newer silver coins a few nice artifacts. It comes out to one nice hit ever hour or so. I'll take that any day and be a happy camper.

Congrats again Don!
