Another interesting phenomena I experienced to day involved misidentification of targets.
Here in Washington State, we have an annual Rain Festival, commencing on January 1 and going through December 31 each year. We don't get sun tans, we rust. Anyway, While out MD in the rain with the Elite 2200, I kept getting indications of quarters that turned out to be pennies. I have found that moist soil gives a clearer signal than does dry and am thinking that the moist soil is making the "halo" larger and in turn increasing the perceived conductivity etc. or that the humidity got into the electronics and caused a component to shift out of spec, causing the false reading.
Any thoughts from the peanut gallery on this one?

PS: Today I found mainly pennies. Some days it is quarters. some days it is dimes but today it was pennies. What's that about?
