Hunted a local park today, didn't find a whole lot there, so we went to a private yard where lots of civil war relics have been pulled, pretty heavily pounded. I did pretty decent, one .44 colt pistol bullet, one really cool piece of carved lead, not sure what it was supposed to be, kinda looks like a trigger, one lead "weight" I think, I know I've seen someone else pull one of these but I can't remember exactly what it is, has a number 4 on it. Then, it was getting pretty cold out, so we decided to head back to the vehicles and call it quits, I said "hey, let's all dig one more good target on the way back"....found my first coin sounding target in the yard for the day and booyah! 1943 Merc!! I couldn't believe it. I loves me some silver!!

the weight is a coat weight. It fit in the hem to hold it down. and found on a lot of battlefileds. i have heard they would melt them down for bullets too. aint yards just fun? did the tag, the long thin item in the pics have any writing? i have found some neat ones. and you got enough clad to buy a new battery! fun little hunt i would say!

Hey, thanks for the ID! Didn't find that one in the yard, found it in the park, civil war stuff is dug there, but I'm guessing that this isn't that old, not a whole lotta patina on it.
