My little town has about 200 houses that have been foreclosed and are sitting empty. Some are owned by banks or mortgage companies but many are owned by FHA, Freddy Mac or Fanny Mae. A few have realty signs in the yards but most just sit there empty. How the devil would you ever get permission from a huge bureacracy like that? There is literally no one to talk to that has any idea what you are talking about. A few of these house are very nice older Victorians on large lots and I can hear them calling to me every time I get close to one. It's really frustrating.

Here the houses in forclosure are owned by the
county ... check with local officials and see
what they say ..

Sad to say tho here the county says NO to :detecting:
but DONT just go on your own and :detecting:

When (if) you metal detect without permission, you give us all a bad name.
 
A trip to the County court house in question is in order as they are a wealth of info if you dig.....err persevere...as sometimes you get the runaround....
