Another hour hunt with the Quantum II

I went to my good old Woods Field...A field I have hunted to death...I still find things every time I go...It is so big that it will NEVER be hunted out. They also hold an annual Field Days there, so it replenishes itself...The section I was hunting I have hit pretty hard this year, and the finds ARE getting thin in that section...This is my take an hour before the skeeter alarm clock went off, and every buzzard in the field wanted to be first in line for the free buffet (ME)...lol

Does anyone know what the hidden adjustment for GroundTrac G.E.B. is for??? You get it by holding the trigger squeezed and pressing ENTER pad...???

Thanks and HH,

Thanks and HH,
In one of your posts you asked -
Do you know what that function is for if you squeeze and hold the trigger, then hit ENTER (GroundTrac G.E.B. (Ground Equalization Balance))...It is supposed to be a hidden function, and I have not found any info on it...

Well let me tell ya what the hidden feature does. When you activate this function, it makes the Quantum put out an audible tone that drives mosquitoes away, us humans cannot hear it, this tone is only able to be heard by the skeeters. I wasn't going to tell you about this feature GoGoGopher becuase I figured that once I told you what is was for you would use it and drive the mosquitoes up my way.

Seriously I have read about this feature (if I find out where I read it I will let you know) I think what it does is to put the Quatum into a automatic ground balance mode, it will change the ground balance to match the ground you are searching on the fly (no pun intended). I could be wrong but I doubt it because I have never been wrong before in my entire life, (just ask my Wife) lol. I am counting down the hours untill my Quantum gets here later today. Steve.

Found this......-

Sorry for the links to other websites.

Well, That is more info than I had...I think you squeeze the trigger, hit ENTER key, then move the coil around on the ground until it reads the deepest depth??? Kind of auto tunes it I guess...I will have to give White's technicians a shout...

HH,

The UPS truck came earlier than expected (around 2:00), I took my Quantum II with the stock 7.8" and 6" coil to a school ground I go to quite often. Although my Quantum looks great and works well it wasn't my cup of tea. I just can't put my finger on why I didn't care for it but I just didn't enjoy using it. I am going to sell it or trade it for something else. Steve.

Doesn't sound like you have really given it a fair shake IMHO

I am not knocking the Quantum in any way but I do know that no matter how long I used it it wouldn't be a "fun" to use detector for me. I have used many different brands and models in the almost 30 years of detecting & can tell really quick if I will or will not enjoy using a detector. I am sure the Quantums are very good detectors they just aren't for me. Steve.

Will you sell the 6" coil separately???
I traded the Quantum with all 3 coils. Keep an eye out on the forums, the smaller coils that fits the Quantums come up for sale from time to time.

Bummer Steve, sorry the Quantum didn't work out for you. Metal detectors are a matter of individual taste. I sure found that out in my quest for the detector that worked best for me. I tried alot of brands/detectors before I settled on my QXT Pro & Classic units. Wish I'd known about the sale earlier I'd bought as a backup to my QXT.

I guess it is good we all like different things, it would make for a dull world if we all liked the same things. I couldn't post it on the classified section on this forum because my 3 month waiting period isn't over yet. I like yourself Mike have tried many different detectors over the years, I have stuck to Tesoro's for the most part. I have always liked the way they work for the type of hunting I do. Then just for fun I decided to try something different (a Minelab Musketeer Colt) I really liked that machine, only thing was my Wife didn't, thats why I traded it for the Quantum. I told her I didn't care for using the Quantum, she told me to get whatever I wanted & she would get her own detector when she is ready. So I put up a for sale/for trade post on a few of the forums and ended up trading my Quantum II for a Minelab Musketeer XS. I won't bad talk White's/Tesoro/Minelab/Garrett/Fisher/etc. because I know they are all good, it just boils down to what detector is "fun" to use and what works for me, and at this time I am enjoying using a Musketeer. I jump around to all the forums because I enjoy reading and learning all I can. Don't be surprised if I drop in from time to time, I know that all you White's users are like the White's products and White's sevice & that is top shelf. Steve.
