OK here is the raw materials.

This is a 5 inch aluminum pipe and aluminum conduit pipe. Also have 6 inch pipe not pictured, picked up from a scrap yard.
I cut it 9 inches long for the 5 inch and 10" for the 6 inch.

This is 6 inch pipe 10" long.
I measured back 6 inches on the 6" pipe and 5" on the 5 inch pipe and made a mark.
Then took a string with a loop and a pencil and made the mark for the cut out.

I took the cut out and flattened it and cut the circle out for the back.
The piece from the side of the circle I used for the brace.
Here is the cut out with holes already drilled.

Mark and drill the holes on the scoop.

Then decide what angle you want your handle and cut it.
I used and aluminum braising rod to put it all together.

Use alumiweld and a hand held propane torch and practice. There are several videos on line showing how.

I plan on getting real rough with them the next time out, and really try to break them just to see how well the alumiweld works.

I had no success with the first attempt and thought they were crap! Watched some online videos and found out you have to scratch it in and the metal has to be hot enough to melt the rod if you melt it with the torch it will just fall off.
It really surprised me at how well it worked if you use the correct technique.

I got real rough with them Labor day and they held up great! I am very proud of them, stopped at a bike shop and picked up a bag of foam handle bar grips, there was enough in the bag to do both scoops.
