GRAY GHOST

hello, all. frank and i went back down to the old farm we've been hunting on and off just south of petersburg, va. this morning. on the way over, i remarked to him that i had 20 pieces of broken "j" hooks, but had never found a complete one. i also told him i could smell a button or two in the making. at the time though, it was just wishful thinking on my part. if there was a brass city in this spot, i think i might've hit it today. here goes:
a broken brass buckle, a chewed up piece of melt, 2 "j" hooks, a brass soldier's ring, an 1858 flying eagle cent, a soldier - made nipple protector, a .36 cal. ball, an old brass cufflink, a nice coat sized "I" button, has a small pinhole on the face and the waterbury backmark and a good shank, a piece of lead with an iron hook in the back of it, and a "the flyer" button, probably from overalls. and last, but not least, a beautiful and complete yankee spur, still has some of the rowel in it! man, i've had a great day.
wow, what a good day. it was gettin' right warm there for a while too. but, that's the way it rolls. you just never know what your're gonna dig up, do you? thanks for reading, good luck, and hh!
