Another Great Day With Silver

Ron M

New member
I had another great day of detecting with the vision, total coins for the day, 178. Most are penny's, but i got to clean them up to go after that silver that is hiding underneath. Found my first cache of coins today, 25 coroded zinc pennys. I found 22 dimes, 5 nickles, 3 quarters, 142 penny's, 1942 silver quarter, 1945 mercury dime, 1943 canadian dime, 1942 and 1947 wheaties, 1906 indian. The silver and indian were found where a tree was cut down and the stump was ground. Thought it was strange that there were no more old coins anywhere around that area, just clad. Im going to try the area agian with the stock coil instead of the 5.3 in the deep silver program or High Pro program to see if maybe theres more silver that was out of my reach.

Good Luck HH.
Ron

Thanks for the update Ron, and congrats on your finds. You are doing very well, especially as a new Vision user. Did the 1943 King George dime (80% Ag, 20% Cu) read with the 2.5 kHz frequency line most elevated..ie..similar to the merc?

Did you happen across any old-time bottlecaps? Curious to learn how the frequencies were presented on this type of in-ground target...ie...similar to airtest reports posted here?

Thanks again Ron, enjoy your posts, your results are certainly encouraging...

The King George dime was dug from between two zinc pennys so i had mixed signals on that dig. The 2.5 khz. was hitting the dime the hardest but was jumping back and forth to 7.5 khz from the zincs. The vdi was jumping from 58 to 80 so i knew somthing good was in the ground. When i started to pinpoint I could seperate the targets. In pinpoint 2.5 hits the silver and pre zinc coins and 7.5 hits the zinc. I didnt dig any old bottle caps in this location just bunches of pennys. Once and a while I will get a flattened out aluminum screw cap that will come in like a pre zinc coin hitting on the 2.5 khz. strongest.

Thanks Ron for that information. It will be interesting over time to see generally how the pre-zincs at various depths will respond wrt the 7.5/2.5 kHz lines at your site. The main point is distinguishing between those and silver dimes.

Did you happen to notice if the sizing feature was of any assistance in differentiating this target from from penny/dime sizes? Curious to ascertain how Vision's ID features will interpret sizing (in the overall ID determination)...particularly wrt profile presented to the coil. Rhetorical more than anything Ron, longer term monitoring will substantiate real world performance.

Thanks a million for your reply, your posts have encouraged me to move forward with price inquires to several area dealers. Hope the material I sent along is of some practical value. Speak with you later, and good luck...

Jim.
