Got a call from Jack (jewaugh) wanting to know if I wanted to ride with him to hunt an old farm in Chesapeake. As you can imagine, I said yes and asked him where to meet. He said he would come by and pick me up.

We got to the farm and introduced ourselves to the owner. He said to help yourselves. He took us back in the woods and showed us where some old earthworks stood. Jack and I hunted that area for a while, but the only thing we were finding was old shotgun shells and newer bullets. The ground was full of roots and digging with the Lesche just wasn't cutting it. We decided to hunt closer to the house (less ticks and snakes this time of year). We hardly got started when I got a good signal. It turned out to be a Mercury Dime. I called Jack over to look at it. When I started hunting again, within a foot or so, I got another good signal. Another Merc. After showing Jack that one, I started detecting again and within two feet I got another good signal. Guess what? Another Merc.

By now I am thinking we hit pay dirt. Wouldn't you know, they stopped like you turned off a faucet. No more good coins the rest of the afternoon. I did get an interesting Medal and a 1939 Dog Tag and what looks like some kind of bullet. All in all it turned out to be a great day hunting with a friend.

Here is my loot for today. The dimes are after cleaning with electrolysis.
