Finds were;2 SILVER rings in the same hole; 1905 Indian Head;1919 Wheatie;1945 War Nickel;1 mini ball;3 dog tags(can you tell this is a place where alot of people walk dogs HEHE)and a bunch of clads. Starting to get use to the MXT,but I got to get one of those 5" excelliator coils(lots of trash)H/H JOE

Hey Joe,
What coil are you using ? The 5 inch will do a super job in the trash. Great finds !!!!

I don't guess anything is wrong with it. However, from what I've experienced with it so far, I just don't see it out preforming the mini dd. I'm still trying it out but so far the mini dd is my choice. I get outstanding depth with my mini dd here in SW VA... deeper than people tell me you can..so I started measuring some of my digs.
In all fairness, I haven't gotten to use the EXC much at all but today if I had to choose I'd take the mini dd.

One of the most important factors in serchcoil depth is the size of the coil. While the mathematical calculations to determine the total area of an elliptical coil are complex, the final answer is almost exactly the same as the area of a circle whose diameter is half the total of the length/width of the elliptical coil. In other words, for the Mini DD, the length (6.75") plus the width (3.5") total 10.25", and half of that is 5.12". Therefore, the area of the Mini DD is about the same as a 5.12" diameter round coil. However, the reason why all major detector manufacturers "stretch" (elongate) DD coils is that by doing so they 1) increase ground coverage and 2) slightly increase depth, by 8-12%. THUS.... the Mini DD really has the depth of (about) a 5.5" round DD. It has been reported that the 5" Excellerator actually measures 4.75"; if so, that would explain why almost all persons who have tested the two claim slightly greater depth from the Mini DD. Another advantage is, again, ground coverage; the Mini DD cuts a "swath" 6.75" wide, whereas the 5" excellerator cuts one 4.75" wide. Personally, I feel that the 6X4 Mini DD is absolutely the best "accessory" coil for the MXT, although MOST owners of it will use it as their #1 coil. Keep up the good work; HH Jim

of detection and that coupled with the MXTs super fast recovery from target to target makes it one of the best coils/detector combos on the market for working areas with alot of targets close to each other.
The 6x10 whites eclipse coil is awesome too.

Maybe I didn't give the 4x6 a long enuff trial but just didn't care for it. I'll still stick with the excellerator, to each his own.
