Took the MXT out this morning to a small tot lot ( approx 15' x 25' ). I had scouted this particular lot briefly in the past and knew there were some coins in the ground but I had no idea. After a 3 hr hunt ( yes, 3 hours ) I ended up with $5.97 in clad. 10 quarters, 22 dimes, 11 nickels and 42 pennies. On top of that I pulled out a squashed penny ( the lot is right next to train tracks ), a boardwalk token and a brass dog tag ( I thought it was cool). The find of the day though was a small sterling silver ring with a heart shaped ( NO LIE ! ) birthstone. On valentines day. Spooky. The bast part of the story is that my daughter phoned me shortly into my hunt and she ended our conversation by telling me " happy valentines day and good luck ". Moments after I hung up I found the ring. When I called her to tell her, I gave her credit for my bringing me luck. She immediately claimed ownership of the ring. When I got home there were a few more surprises. A 1965 quarter ( again !? ), a 1962 nickel and the biggest surprise of all a 1948 S wheatie that's in very good condition. I will post a picture or two shortly. I hope my stories are helping some of you get through the weather. I have no idea how long my hot streak is going to hold out but I'm just going to enjoy the ride. Hope you do too. HH
