Another good day, more surprises

Took the MXT out this morning to a small tot lot ( approx 15' x 25' ). I had scouted this particular lot briefly in the past and knew there were some coins in the ground but I had no idea. After a 3 hr hunt ( yes, 3 hours ) I ended up with $5.97 in clad. 10 quarters, 22 dimes, 11 nickels and 42 pennies. On top of that I pulled out a squashed penny ( the lot is right next to train tracks ), a boardwalk token and a brass dog tag ( I thought it was cool). The find of the day though was a small sterling silver ring with a heart shaped ( NO LIE ! ) birthstone. On valentines day. Spooky. The bast part of the story is that my daughter phoned me shortly into my hunt and she ended our conversation by telling me " happy valentines day and good luck ". Moments after I hung up I found the ring. When I called her to tell her, I gave her credit for my bringing me luck. She immediately claimed ownership of the ring. When I got home there were a few more surprises. A 1965 quarter ( again !? ), a 1962 nickel and the biggest surprise of all a 1948 S wheatie that's in very good condition. I will post a picture or two shortly. I hope my stories are helping some of you get through the weather. I have no idea how long my hot streak is going to hold out but I'm just going to enjoy the ride. Hope you do too. HH

Yeah BJ, that's how she sees it too. I've raised her long enough to know that arguing is pointless. JK I'm thrilled to be able to give my daughter real buried treasure. How many people can say that ? Enough of the sentimentality, here's something a little more interesting. Enjoy. HH

BTW you're not seeing things, that one nickel @ the bottom has been painted black by someone. ?!?

I'm not sure what the stone is. It's pink /lavender colored. A friend told me that he believes it's Amethyst. ?

I think it is neat how you found that ring and then gave it to your daughter. You are doing a good job with that MXT. Thanks for sharing your story, very enjoyable! Kelley (Texas)

Congrats on the great ring find and the coins .

Nice finds and a great story congrats . Makes your Valentines day a special one .
Good Hunting

Scott, you're a breath of fresh SPRING air. Thank you so much for telling us your detecting story. Isn't is amazing how things happen when out looking for the unknown. ;)

Reminds me of a few years past when I took the day off at work and Larry and I went metal detecting. I needed to get out and get my mind off of my son's 3rd. year anniversary of his passing. While hunting (a spot that Larry and a friend hunted quite thoroughly), I found three silver dimes in a space of within a yard. Then my next dig was a cross. What else is there to say.

Thank you again for the wonderful post. Congrats on the finds and keep digging away!

HH,
Nancy

That's an incredible and touching story, Nancy. Thanks for sharing it. I hope you don't mind but I will definitely be retelling your story to friends. Really makes you wonder...

Hi srf2112, Nice hunt. I noticed that you had found a black painted nickel. I also found one like that in our sports complex here in FL. I took some paint remover to mine and put it into the nickel roll. Hey more good luck and HH. KC
