Another Goal Down

Today I hit my 5000th coin in calendar 2008. It was a 1967 dime buried about 1/3 of an inch. Oh, what a let down! Neat items found along with it were a 1952D wheat cent, a JFK half which was deep and I was almost sure was going to be a silver coin, and a really nice 925 ring with turquoise hearts. I may be on a silver coin slump but I am finding a lot of 925 jewelry which is almost as good.

Also note this is a site that I had cherry picked for quarters in the spring. Look at the quarter total compared to the dime total. The surprise is the penny total. 75 percent of the penny signals I dug today were dimes. I dug every signal. At least 75 junk targets down around nickel notches. This site is very difficult for nickels because of all the pencil erasers and pop tops.

Next goal is passing last years coin total of 5605 and then it's a long way to 10,000 in calendar 2008.

My bringing coffee to the maintenance guys at this school paid off today. I had to use a bathroom and they let me right in and then gave me an ice cold soda that was left over from the end of term picnic this afternoon. They also let me know that there was another detector poking around last weekend. I was pleased to see this guy was very respectful to the grass and also left me a LOT to find.

Wow, that's alot of coins. Still working on getting a 1000.

Some good finds in the clads. Silver rings is a nice find.:garrett:
