Hey All,
As I was using the DD coils latley and using the pinpoint method off the tip of the coil. I know the reason it does this as most of you know also is because the transmit (tx) and reciver coils (rx) are both overlaped on the tip.
So I tried using this technique with the Imaging coils using the reciever coil (the second one) and it works also! Works really well in pinpoint or all metal mode, but will do in disc mode also.
So here it is....basically..... when the second coil (rx) is just beginning to hit the target, the target is right there under the edge of rx coil. Works in all directions.
You will notice no signal when target is under or near the outside coil (tx coil) but when it is at edge or under the second coil (RX).......the target is there!
So there it is...see if it works for you...comes in handy sometimes when in trashy areas and need almost EXACT location of target. Of course this only works with the newer open Garrett coils that you can see the different coils...not the older white coils. See pic....Rx coil under the nugget!
