Another fun day, with a good buddy

Another fun day, hunted with my buddy Erich. We hit this old farm and nothing super old was found, still got some keepers. Silver dime, token good for 5 cent loaf of bread, soap token, small sterling ring, oriental style button and dog tag. Dug about a dozen wheats not shown. This tree was in the back yard the size of it was enormous, look at the swing underneath it to get an idea of the size!

Very nice finds !

Hunting around big old trees seems to yield a lot of good finds - it makes sense ... most people like to sit under big trees and use them to get out of the sun or bad weather.

I'm in the timber business so I always look at trees.
You can tell if there's been any changes to the level of the dirt in the area your hunting by looking at where the root flares meet the ground on older trees.

I found a Civil War era "Hearts in the Sand" heel plate and a pocket spill of five 1800's dated Indian Cents under my neighbors 400 year old oak tree last season.

neat digs Terry, i just dont have the patience to clean my stuff the way you do but it sure looks nice!

Patience?? Basically just use a toothbrush drop od dish soap and a lil scrubbing, cleaned this stuff in under 5 min total

nice assortment of finds! Love the tokens! - Jim

I'm kind of thinking when you hunt around old trees that maybe the root system keeps the coins pushed up closer to the surface.
