:detecting: Went detecting today and found my first Seated Quarter. It was an 1853 with rays and arrows. My SE is a Joy to use and teaches me more about it every time I use it. Thanks for looking

Good Job Titan Man,

So where was it found ? a old park, homesite or field.
How deep was it. Details man, details.
I'm still looking for my first.

Ron

It was found only 4 inches deep in an old fair grounds. 4 of us have been detecting it and found several wheats,Indians and silver.

Thanks for details.

Sounds like you found a good spot. Funny things about coin depth, I've found 1869 2 cent at 6 inches and sometimes find clad at 10 inches.
You would think the older the deeper, but here in Northeast USA maybe the freeze/thaw cycle raises and lowers coins.I once found Silver dollar 3 inches and a Walker Half @10+.
So ya never know.

Good Luck with that spot.

Ron
