Another Fast vs Deep Question

I was reviewing the pictures of my trash finds since purchasing the ESE(yes, I take picture of them as well). I just realized that when I had DEEP turned ON, I usually dug quite a few rusty nails and other iron trash. Conversely, when I had FAST turned ON, I rarely dug a nail or any other iron. Does this mean that FAST acts as an "iron tamer"? Or does DEEP amplifies questionable signals making them occasionally register as deep silver? As this is my first Minelab, I'm still learning the nuances of this detector and would appreciate some input from the veterans.

Thanks Jim, but that is not really what I'm asking. I'm just trying to fully understand why FAST and DEEP differ in how they respond to deep rusty iron.
