Another example of "it never hurts to ask".

Tough to find new places like many others, so I stopped at an nice 1870ish wood frame house.

Spoke to a very nice elderly woman, and explained what I did and asked if she would give permission to hunt her property.

She said, "sure, I always wanted to do that...especially at a beach". She took me out back and showed me her huge property, which consisted of a nice lawn with large trees. We talked for about 20 minutes, and she said I was welcome any time. (I am going to invite her to try my detector when I go).

Very dry right now, so I am going to wait for some rain before I dig. It is in an out of the way area close to a river, so maybe there might be some nice hits.

Never pass up a chance. The worst thing that can happen is they can say "no".

I asked permission to hunt an old abandoned property and was told not to set a foot on the property ..and if I did...the Police would be notified immediately!

Guess I'll stick to beaches..but all those old coins are on those old properties....
