Another Eagle II question

I recently decided to give coin shooting a try, so I dusted off the Eagle II,(blue case) I got from my father a number of years ago. It seems to work fine. It has the Blue Max 9.5 coil and is in stock form, other than the base I built for it. After reading all the Eagle II posts I could find on this forum, I think Iv'e determined I can run any 6.59 coil. True? Does the Royal 800 have an advantage over the Blue max 800? I see there is a 6x4 DD coil available. Would that coil lose much depth compared to the 5.3? I don't have any experience wirh DD coils on a VLF. I do know my 18"DD doesn't reach down like the 16" mono on my PI. So I guess I'm asking: Which other coil(s) would best compliment my detector for coin shooting? I'm not interested in going for the bigger, deep targets. I'll use my 3500 for those. The ground around here can be pretty hot, serpentine, but most of my detecting will be in topsoil conditions. Thanks guys.....................Marstin

I love useing an 6" eliminator coil from jimmy seirra I bought for my Eagle II SL Years ago. Its perfect for trashy sites I now have a Spectrum XLT and it works on it as well. I also use the Bigfoot coil on the ski runs and its a freakin coin rake cant beat it for that type of hunting. Recently I attempted to try an SEF coil to get more depth but the new SEF and anything for the DFX and newer has a different running frequency. So the newer coils do not work for sure. Try chatting with Jimmy Sierra's on line site and see what they recomend. Not much help Sorry,

Marstin,
There is no difference between the Royal 800, Blue Max 800, or the Bullseye 800 other than stickers.
The Blue Max 4x6DD will give up a lot of depth to the 5.3, but it will move between targets better in a trash filled environment. The Blue Max 350 shooter would be a better choice for close in work than the 4x6DD.
If you are going to be hunting parks, tot lots, and school grounds, any of the 800 coils paired with the 350 will do you right.
One other coil to consider is the Blue Max/Black Max 5.3. It is a bit smaller than the 800 (6" vx 8") so doesn't cover as much ground as the 800, but you would be able to get deeper into the trash before switching to the 350 Shooter.

Thanks, guys, for the input. Its all becoming clear(er). HAR HAR! For sure, this is info I can use............Marstin
