Another Defective Unit

I started reading this forum in early June and bought an F75 in mid July. I tried all the tips that appeared in this forum, but the unit was excessively noisy and TID number jumped all over the place even when I dropped the sensitivity down in the upper 20's. I finally called FT and they had me speak to Mike Scott. He said I should send it in and have them take a look at it, so I sent it off on Aug 21 and got it back on Sept 5. They said it was a defective coil and put a new one on it, as well as a new foam cover on the handle (not sure why they messed with the handle -- are there wiring connections under the foam, so that they have to cut the foam off to work on them??) Anyway, I put it together that night and tried to use it ... but now there was no audio...none! There were TID numbers showing up on the screen and everything appeared to be working except the speaker.
I suppose the technician had at some point disconnected the speaker and forgot to reconnect it.

I called them the next day and they issued a call tag to have it picked up and said it would be a priority repair. UPS came and got it on Sept 7. It will probably reach the factory today or tomorrow. Hopefully First Texas will get everything right this time. It has been a very disappointing experience so far. It is the most expensive detector I have ever purchased and has been the least reliable.

When you get it and it's right... you will know that it was worth the trouble. It is not the best machine for every application but when it excell's... it really excell's.

It take's a bit of time with it before everything will click but when it does, it will re-open sites for you. Try all-metal in bad ground and trash but keep a close watch on the GB, you will be amazed.

They told me that I was about the only guy that was having problems. Hope they get yours fixed, mine has been there since last Friday and no one can tell me what is going on. I would call the factory but I can't speak Chinese.

OK, maybe the F-75 can find ones the CZ missed but for me, the fun, user friendly factor wins out -no wondering if it's working right or if it's the right settings...for my limited hunting time available...more power to those out there who want more...I still can do rather well with my CZ-technique, persistence, and just knowing it's language...HH

How can I have HH when my little gem is gone again. I thought I was someone special but I guess I'm not. I feel really used another day without so much as even a call to let me know if my little F75 is dead or alive. I'm so torn up I can't even get out my ex to go for a walk in the park. Maybe someday someone will call but until then I will be looked in my room crying about the money that I lost. Tearfully yours,

I have been surprised that so many cheap components have been used,
Yep I can't speak Chinese & they can't seem to understand quality control .

Sad Stuff when your paying top dollar.

Bobby.

I HAD TO SEND MY f-75 back and recieved a replacement ,6 weeks later the coil had to be changed ,to be fair JA UK replaced both under warrenty .

I had the same thing happen with a ID Excel when they first came out. I got it repaired and then traded it.

Yes, considering the number of problems that I've seen posted on this forum, what they are lacking is Quality Control.

I don't know about cheap components . Most of the problems seem to be posted as "bad coil" or "bad solder points".

Fisher does not do a real good job of explaining their repairs. They said mine was a bad solder point(s) on a coil wire. Does that mean one of the wires in the coil cable itself? Was it a bad solder point where the wire in the cable is attached to the connector plug that screws onto the control box, or is it on the end where it is attached to the coil loop or did they mean one of the wires in the coil loop itself? Anyway, they said they replaced the entire coil, but then somehow during the testing/repair process the audio got disconnected.

I'm thinking that maybe their components are OK (other than their cheap battery connector springs) but they are not doing a good job of assembly when they solder those components together. They should give their workers more extensive training so that they consistently make high quality solder connections and all units should be thoroughly inspected and tested before leaving the factory.
