Picked up my buddy early this morning and hit the road.
We ended up hitting a house we had hunted many years ago along the way and although we picked it pretty clean I happened to have a live luck putting my coil over two items.
My first find was near an old pine tree and upon digging it thought it was a LC but, it turned out to be a Worcester Salt Token. It has a swastika on the reverse that says good-luck.
A little later on I was able to get a nice bouncing right high signal that was very faint.
Upon opening up the plug I could see a Lil glimmer of silver. I got a picture of it and you can faintly see it protruding out of the dirt. It was almost straight on edge standing upright.
It turned out to be a 36D Merc.
We then decided to do find house and this one we had never hunted. The owner of many generations said to his knowledge we where the first ones. It is a big yard and we started in the front. I was able to get two wheat's. a 44D and a 34.
About 15 minutes later I got another faint hit and although this yard was not that clean the sound of silver rang through the old trusty XS-II.
At about 7" I was able to pull out a intact Sterling Silver Thimble. I have not dug a un-crushed one in some time so, this was a neat surprise.
My final dig of the day came close to where I first planted my coil starting off and I got a signal that hit and sounded like an Indian. It seemed to want to stair-step back and forth which is very typical of IH's.
At about 8"+ under a root I was able to extract a 02 Indian. I am fortunate I did not scratch it prying the dirt from beneath the root.
My buddy did not have a good day coin wise but, did get two odds and ends oldies. I believe he got one or two coins but, nothing he was excited about.
One appears to be some kind of button possible and the other looks like a piece of a pendant that opens. It has an Egyptian style bust in the center of it with a design suitable to that around the border. I think its pretty cool.
It turned out to be a great day because upon leaving another gentleman with the owner gave us information on his property (actually two pieces of land) in a nearby town and said we are welcome there anytime.
Both he said are places he has never allowed anyone to hunt so that made the whole day for us.
Here are today's finds with first being the Merc in the hole barely sticking out.
