Another day in York Maine

Beautiful day for the beach. I used my Explorer xs with the stock 10" and was trying to cover some acreage.I couldn't go too fast cause I was getting targets galore. I was finding coins that hit in the far left of the screen (as if Iron targets would) but not tight top left. They came out covered in iron residue.so from now on if it is not tight top left I dig-em and found I recovered multiple good targets by doing this. There must be tons of iron in the sand. Most of the targets I dug was not on the screen display where they normally should be. Hence dig everything,(except for possitive Iron.)The tones were even diff. like low tone iron.
Am I the only guy out here digging the pennies!!!!Way too many! Nice toe ring 925 silver and a nice green stone ring, and a 1984 Fiero Flouresent Green W/gold specks.

Hi Matt,

I've been using my Explorer with Sunrays 12.5" coil here on the beaches in Calif. I normally use my Sovereign or a Pi machine. With the Explorer I've found that you have to dig those deep signals that are at the bottom of the depth gauge. I've dug many that sounded and read like iron and a lot of them turned out to be non-ferrous targets. I like to take out a scoop of sand and then I turn my coil so the tip of the coil points straight down. I stick the coil in the hole to try and get a better reading. I might have to take a couple of scoops of sand out before I get a soild tone. I dig anything that is not iron and I even dig out some of those hard hitting iron tones.

You doing the right thing digging all the pennies. I got two gold rings in the last two weeks and they both hit as zincs. You just never know. If you're finding all the clad I'm sure you'll be hitting some rings sooner or later. Nice job.

OMG some of these coins were deep, and yes the tones did change for the better as I dug I would check for tone change.I sometimes curse the explorer cause it makes me dig Deeeeeeeep, its alot of work :) I pulled out alot of big rocks in the way. I found one rock that sounded just like sweet silver a good solid tone, I almost took it home but it was too big and truck was too far away. When I get a WOT I am going to have to bring a Kabota tracter with me!....Have a good summer...HH
