another cz6a on the way

Andy/Memphis

New member
trying to get back into metal detecting bought another brand non id machine it was nice and light and easy to use but all i could think about was my old cz6a so i have traded the other away and have a cz6a on the way this time it will never leave i have had almost every brand and model but always compare them to cz6a

Yep old technology at its best..I think I got Andy started years ago and time really flies...Back in the CZ fold myself as I now have a real hot CZ5 and one of these days when I hang up my boots for good after trying them all CZ's will be my all time favorite for depth and user friendly features.I honestly think the new Fisher errored when they discontinued the standard CZ line of units..to push their F units but only a personal opinion.
Welcome back Andy as always nice to welcome a CZ user back and may your pouch always be full.

I just can not get a single freq machine to work where i hunt. Ive tried many. The only Fishers that work are the CZs.

I believe is the one you bought from me, I regretted it very much after I sold it, think it was about 3-4 years ago, remember? Where's you find this other one, I've been looking myself....HH John

thanks dan and everybody the cz is coming from Fort worth tx cant wait myself will keep yall posted sure i will be looking for a small coil next

I would like to get a good used CZ5, CZ6 or CZ6a, but whats the difference in all the older cz's.
I have heard that the New CZ3D's are not as good as the older units. But I do recall seeing a listing on an Action site last month that stated that the one being sold meet the T. Dankowski test. (depth test of a dime at 10" I believe)
Not the one someone sent in to have calibrated by Dankowski himself, that sounded a little far fetched to me!
Anyway I got off track of what I was asking, I do that when I talk metal detectors.
Can someone explain why the demand for the CZ5 vs CZ6 vs. CZ6a. and the Los Banos CZ3d? A BRAND NEW CZ3D sounds like throwing money away, is this true?
Please help!

Bill

Mendo,

I think there were some CZ3D's that were not up to spec in terms of what they should air test at. I believe FT tightened up the process and everything is fine. I also think if you get a new CZ3D and feel it is not calibrated correctly, the people at FT may be able to correct it. I would call them and ask.

Do a search on the forum. There are hunters who bought new CZ3D's and like them a lot and have not had any problems.

dual freq, superior engineering and design and great depth!!!!!!!!!
old fisher (los banos) cz3ds are said to be calibrated better and airtest anywhere from 10-12 inches on a dime. some of these were hot and unstable, some were hot and stable.
new fisher(el paso) cz3ds, some were not properly calibrated and only airtested a dime at about 8-9 inches.
i believe some of the last los banos and first el-paso cz3ds are the ones that you would want to steer clear of.

i would not have a problem buying a brand new cz3d since i believe the new fisher has gotten past there "changing hands" and i have a great deal of confidence in there customer service

Having used several CZ3D's and every other model CZ ever made never found much depth difference in any but perhaps I was lucky and never had a cold one..

My feeling is if you hunt extremely old places along with newer ones CZ3D might be the way to go but if you hunt moderately old places along with new places keep your present CZ.

I feel the new Fisher built on its experience and if you feel your not getting the depth might call Fisher for a tuneup as I feel they have it all together and your unit will come back properly tuned be it an old CZ6A or the newest CZ3D..

Congrats!......I have an old Small-plug 4 pin CZ6...Still waiting/watching for a 10" coil to come up for sale for it....Had a newer CZ-3d and this old 6 put it to shame so I sold it...Now I'm leary about ever getting another 3D.....I'll just keep my CZ6 until it completely dies.....

Thanks fellas, your commits are very interesting, and helpful. There is a guy in your MT club that consistently pulls old silver dimes from a very old city park, via his CZ6a.
He tells me it's due to his CZ is an analog unit and me and everyone else has Digital. The EMI is very high there along with high mineralization soil. I want one like he has, but they are hard to find. Sometimes the Big Action site has something for sale, but I don't trust the Ads that state "I recently upgraded to a newer unit". That seems to tell me that the one for sale is a cold one.
I think I will take my changes on a new one, but I will call First Texas Inst. in the morning and talk with there Tech. people first. If they can send me a 12" dime air test unit I would buy 2. Ha,Ha!
One to use and one to sell on the Internet in a couple of years. Someone said FTI was going to stop producing them, IS THAT TRUE?

Thanks again, Bill

Basically doesn't take any time to get in the swing of things with a user friendly depth demon...after you used a previous one..
