Another cool token, silver, wheats and more today

Hunted a small yard my friend owns today and I mean small yard....lol
There I got one lone wheat 1952, the good for 10 cents token, the old lock, the lead toy, and one buckle. From there I went back to a house I have hunted several times and everytime I go I find something.

The first target there was the 1946 silver dime, then got a 1942 wheat, the clay marble was in a hole I was digging for something cannot remember, all in all a pretty decent short hunt this morning!

Hey hey nice finds once again. You sure do seem to do well with the x-terra. Thanks for sharing once again, HH L8R

Appears you dig all over the meter as lots of oddball stuff...again whatever works but when I hunt a yard usually just go for possible silver..Cuts down on the digging which I like to keep at a minimum and imagine doing so leave some cool stuff....

absolutely, If I am on an older property I dig all non ferrous signals, I hunt by sound not numbers on the screen, if your ONLY digging coin signals your missing a ton of good stuff.
Several items today bounced all over because of close iron and or trash, but I listen for that sweet sound, the more I hunt with this machine the easier it is for me to understand it. Just like today when I went back to the yard I have hunted several times before. Today I was able to get the wheat and silver dime that had iron all around it, did either one give a good signal? absolutely NOT,......BUT by listening to the sounds the x-70 was telling me I knew there was something good there.
The silver dime I believe was bouncing from 42 to 46 and even down to like mid 20's but the tone was high and sweet sounding. I know I have read people who say coins do not bounce more than 2 numbers, I beg to differ, maybe in a perfect world but not in the yards I hunt!

....plus the aluminum token was a locked on solid 46, how many dig 46's and find out they are junk? In the last few weeks I have have some good targets come out that read a soild 46 on the x-70, two were those large aluminum Ohio tokens the gas company used to use in the 40-50's I believe. They were about the size of a half dollar.

Of course many, many 46's are junk when I dig em, but the signal was smooth and sweet, glad I dug it, because it was the find of the day. Far better than an ordinary silver rosie

seems if you get a broken choppy 46 it will be deep iron, if it sounds smooth you better dig it

Coins not bouncing more than two notch segments....... that would be me! But as I've said just as many times, there are exceptions.

I won't bore some of you with my "theories" on TID and audio resonse. But for those interested, without having to search through past posts, here are exerpts from some I've made concerning "bouncing numbers".......

"My rule of thumb has become, if the visual target ID number bounces by more than two notch segments, I don

wow..........This is nothing against you Randy but to me I'd rather just dig it then go thru all them steps to see if it is a keeper....lol
I know since I started digging LOTS and lots of iffy bouncing signals in trashy yards, I have gotten many keepers as you see in all the stuff I post I find.

I will never fully trust a machine to tell me what is in the ground, for me I will just dig those iffy bouncers:)

and most places I hunt there is always adjacent targets, so it is hard to get consistent ID numbers. So I just dig....lol

plus I like to get more than just old coins out of a yard. TRUE coins are my passion, but I love old tokens, toys, relics, etc.....and you just never know what an item will be till you dig it up.

As I feel over the years have become more selective and dig less. Certainly pros and cons but when it comes down to the nitty-gritty those that dig more find more.
So many variables to consider and certainly depends on the site, number of targets and sometimes just a gut feeling..Always remember the fellow that dug Zinc penny and ended up with the biggest tennis bracelet I ever saw just loaded with diamonds so again to dig or not is the question...

No problem. I don't hunt much differently than you in that I hunt by sound more than sight! But as I get older and my body becomes more crippled up, I find I put more effort into my decision whether "to dig or not to dig". Not sure if it is entirely the physical limitations or if the old brain cells are trying to tell me something that I haven't fully comprehended. :stars: Regardless, we seem to agree that you"ll never know for sure......unless you dig it!
Now, where have I heard that before? :detecting: HH Randy

Congrats on the very nice hunt! I really like that nice token, and the silver. Your digging style proves that different methods work for different folks. I like seeing your finds and you do find some cool stuff. Keep at it, Beale.

Nice hunt and thanks for sharing the tips on bouncing numbers and sweet & smooth sounds.
