Another Coil Question and Confusion

Good day all,
Seems to be allot of chatter about coils for the X 705, so I thought I would do some checking around, and became more confused (not hard to do these days),,Anyway I looked in the Minelab Coil Application section of thier website and found ( I already knew all this but 1 question came to light) that they recommend the 18.75 coils for gold and the 3 khz coils for and I quote " Coins relics and the higher conductive metals such as silver and copper and so on" this is where the question fits in.. The best conducting metal is gold,,so why is that not lumped into the 3khz catagory instead of the 18.75..... Or maybe they are being vague to get us to buy more coils... So is there anyone out there that can say for sure what is going on here????
Thanks

Actually, silver has a higher electrical conductivity than gold. In fact, silver has a higher electrical conductivity than any of the metals. Copper comes in second, just behind silver. As I've said in many posts, any of the three coil frequencies will find silver, copper and gold. But the lower frequency is better suited for the higher conductive silver and copper. And the higher frequency is better suited for lower conductive targets, including gold. Although lower frequencies will hunt deeper than a coil of similar size in a higher frequency, the higher frequencies are more sensitive to small targets. So, in my opinion, they are not doing it to sell more coils. They offer all three freqs on the X-Terra in an effort to make it a "universal" detector that can be adapted to different aspects of the hobby. Coins, relics, gold prospecting, jewelry hunting, beach combing etc. And for those who subscribe to having the right tool for the job, switching a coil sure is less expensive than buying a second or third detector at different freqs. Size matters. As an example, you can't compare small gold nuggets to Uncle McScrooge's lost solid gold pocket watch. Are you a nugget hunter, looking for that lost necklace or after that jumbo class ring?

Size matters

You may need to click on the charts for the animation to work.
