My buddy Mark gave me a call this evening when he got off work and asked if I wanted to hunt this evening. Of course I said yes. I talked him into a spot I went to last week and got 6 silver, even though he seemed a bit reluctant. I think he has changed his tune now
The half was about 4" down under some nasty roots. I thought I was digging a 2" deep clad quarter to be honest. This is the second time this month I've dug a shallow quarter type signal and dug out some big silver. I coin came flying at me after my knife caught it under the roots. It's pretty exciting to see a big chunk of silver flying at your face.
He certainly beat me today in terms of quality, but I did alright for myself. His finds were an 1899 Barber dime and an 1893-O Barber Dime in XF or better condition. A real beauty of a coin!
My Finds:
1941 Walking Liberty Half Dollar
1891 Indian Head Cent
Ugly Ring marked MEXICO SILVER - Down about 9" and a really bouncy signal. After getting it out there was a big chunk of melted lead right next to it.
Part of a broken pin or something.
