Another beautiful day in Fl.

I went for a 3 hr. spin to another River not far from my home. This was an old swimming beach back in the 40s, the city had let it get overgrown with weeds in the water, it was next to impossible to swing a MD. I read in the local paper where they cleaned it out over the weekend so I gave it another try. I found a couple older coins a 1918 dime and a wheat penny all the rest was 1965 or newer. As I was hunting in waist deep water I felt this bump on the back of my leg, turned to see a large Manatee wanting me to play. Saw 3 more during the few hrs. I was there. No gold again today, but a great day just the same. Here is my spin for the day.

NICE SANDY BOTTOM, USED TO BE WEEDS AND SEA GRASS TO THICK TO WALK THRU.

Hope ya don't mind my asking, but could you tell me the general location? Is it salt or one of the spring fed rivers? Just asking cause it looks pretty clear.

Mike

I have scratched their backs and they tell their buddies and they come around wanting their backs scratched. I know the law. I have caught a few gators too.

Great pictures and a good hunt make for a great day.

Mike, this is a nice little park in the city of Crystal River, Fl. Hunter Springs Park, http://tfn.net/Springs/Hunter.htm The only drawback is that in the summer months there is a fungus in the water that may cause iritation, I have never had a problem with it but some do. If you ever get to go there take a mask and snorkel so you can check out the springs in the area. A Kayak will get you to quite a few springs in the general area. You can rent Kayaks and pontoon boats in the area to check out the River. Good luck and HH

I kind of suspected it might be along Crystal River, I did my open water dive there back in 72 at the springs. It is a beautiful area! Thanks for the response and info. By the way I was born and raised in Bradenton, and sepnt much of my youth playing in the Manatee and Braden Rivers. It used to be such a blast to seee the Manatees playing around in the river. There is a old dock in the Braden River, at Braden Castle, and Manatees used to come up to the dock to be fed by the residents. It was quite a sight to see their hairy little muzzels sticking out of the water as they begged for food.
