Another 550 Sniper Day........

Spanky

New member
Weather was warm today so I checked out a park that has a hang out area for teenagers.

Used my 550 with the sniper coil.

Most of these were 1" to 2" deep. Screw driver popped them pretty quick. Hoping to try again Saturday morning .....depending on if we get snow or not.

Had some fun!

Cheers !

I dont care, Ill take a clad hunt anytime! Popping out a pocket full like that is enough to make you feel like you done some good.

Now the question. Do you think that the Ace 250 is gonna make instruments like the 550 and 750 obsolete?

No idea, guess Garrett knows the answear to your question. As for me I like the 550 and have done well with it. The yella fellow is a very good detector no question about it but I think I'll be staying with my green fella. If my son wanted to buy a detector I'd say try the 250.

Cheers!

Yeah when I tested the 550 I thought it was a remarkable machine for the price and it's hot on rings. On one day when testing it I found three nice rings, and that was with the old Crossfire coil.

... is so, then I should pick one up if I find it at a good price, eh?
I guess I believe that a good 'un is always a good 'un - regardless of the new stuff out there. I have line on one of the old Freedom III's for the same reason...good instrument, regardless. I'd also like to chek out a Freedom II, if anyone knows where a decent one can be had.

Waddaya think, Bill?

Some of the older dogs will hunt right along with the young ones. The Freedom was always a good machine. Look what Leslie turns up with his. The 550 doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the other machines but is a good basic coinshooter, and with the new coil, much better.

I agree.... I think of my 550 as a dependable reliable machine just like my car. I'm one of those guys who just has to hear the hum of the threshold always done it that way and it just don't seem the same without it.

Cheers!

Yeah that's a security blanket for a lot of guys. I like to hear mine with just a faint hum so I know my detector is working.
