Another 4 gold rings today!! Love these Michigan waters!

Well yesterday was cold and miserable so I decided to wait till today to hit the lakes. I hit one that I only went to once before when my CZ-20 died. I was able to borrow a friends Beach hunter ID, BUT with a floating coil and me diving it was miserable. I was only able to get 2 wheat cents that day.

So today I get there at 10:00 am. Kind of late for me but it still is chilly here. The first ring I find is the 10K heart shaped with the small diamond chip in it. Then I hit that massive 14K mens class ring. It is HUGE. I have also never seen a 14K class ring. I have only found 10K. Those stones going around the green one might be diamonds??? I wont know until tomorrow. Then I pick up the 16K ring. I also have never found a 16K ring. On my second dive I picked up the 14K white gold ring.

No wheat's and no silver coins except for the standing liberty quarter that somebody decided to carve into just the eagle!! Very strange that out of all the coins I couldn't scrounge up one full silver one.

The headless lead soldier and the Florida Cities Bus Company West Palm Beach Bus Fare token were great finds. WHY a Florida token was in a Michigan lake is pretty strange. Anybody from down that way know the age of it?

BUT my most favorite find was the large token that was good for 5.00 in GOLD if presented at Citizen Press Office on or before Aug. 1 1914. I wish it would have been the GOLD!! It is in great condition and has a 44 stamped on the edge.

Small aluminum religious medal and the small buckle were neat. The buckle has a patent date of Dec. 23 1884. Metal comb and salt shaker with grapes on it, keys and knifes and the metal pull handle for an outboard motor.

Here are the pictures. Enjoy. That mans class ring is the biggest ring I have found to date. I will have it weighed tomorrow and the stones tested. It has the owners name in it and it will be returned if possible.

Visability in these parts is 0. I bought a mask to use in the surf and can't see a damn thing down there, even right on the target. It would be TOUGH! GREAT STUFF MATE!

Thanks all. New news. The class ring has CZ's in it but it weighs 24.5 grams. At todays scrap it has 371.00 in gold in it minus the stones. The 16K ring is very old I am told and only a few companies made them. It is inscribed Libbie. That lake needs a lot more attention!! I was only 10' deep at the most. I didn't go down the dropoff because it was too dang cold!!

:clapping::please: very impressive... congrats on all your finds. poor soldier dude though lost his head in battle i see. he shall be remembered.....

Nice work! Great Finds....You making me want to go hunting. In fact I think I will go check the tides right now..lol

..if this is Vandercook lake you need permission for the park director now to detect there. There are new rules about detecting in our county parks. Just want to let ya know. Cool finds. Jim

Jim, It is indeed Vandercook and the water is fair game from what I have been told. I am diving well over peoples heads and in any MI park that water is not regulated. If you have a number for the park director I will be glad to verify. All my finds were in 6 - 10 foot of water. I never want to break any regulations.
Even the state parks that don't allow detecting have told me that deep water is out of their jurisdiction.

Are you from that area? I am heading back very soon. I need to spend a whole day underwater there. Way too many signals and great finds on the dropoff.

Robert great finds. I know there's more there. Maybe Ross, Randy, and myself can make a road trip with you. Just.Let us know when you would like to go. It should be a great time. As far as hunting the park there, I made a phone call and was told it's A OK in that park just fill your holes properly and remove your rubbish. I hope your gold streak keeps going. Once again, great finds.

Tom

Thanks Tom. You ready to try my hookah in the water? Room for two CZ-21's. All I ask for payment is any gold and silver that you find. I will graciously let you keep the wheat's. Ross says no way.

Jim C.

I just got off the phone with the Jackson County Parks Department and talked with Becky. Here is the information. When the swim buoy's are out they will not allow metal detecting within them. Anything outside the buoy's is fair game and they do not give anybody a hastle at all. You DO need WRITTEN permission to hunt the land in any of their parks. You have to write them and they will send you the form.

It is the same with all the state parks that do NOT allow detecting. If your outside the swim area they will leave you alone. The bottom of the lake is open to any diver with a detector.

Thank you for informing me about Jackson. I have been in contact with the state but not each county. I don't play in the swim areas or land anyway. Way too many wading detectorists clean those places out!!
