Another $1 Coin found in America :yikes:

Wow, I found another $1 Sac at a park I worked yesterday. They really add to the total. That's 2 in one week. I know you Canucks are thinking BIG DEAL but they just aren't used here in the States. Until they get rid of the $1 bill, they will still be few and far between. I hit an area that had a lot of quarters also so my total was real good. I also found a brass St. Christopher. It has Protect Us Sea - Land - Water. Total 58 coins for $7.95.

it sure would be nice if the did do away with the dollar bill and only use dollar coins again. we would be up to our eye brows in dollar coins lost, it be like the good ol'days:thumbup:, i wish they would bring back and use the half dollars and dollar coins again that be sweet:clapping:!!!

THat's not a SAC bud but old ugly Susan B. Anthony, the first failed attempt at reintroducing the dollar in coin form.

Inmy haste I called it wrong. good eye.

I notice the ones out now have George Washington
on the front, and the statue of liberty on the
back. The date, etc is stamped on the edge.
Not the easiest thing to read either.. Pretty tiny
print.
They are the first of a series of "President"
dollars, kinda like the way they did the "State"
quarters. I get them as change from post office
stamp machines for one place..
I just tested a Washington dollar with the 250,
and it rang up as a quarter. Kinda makes sense
being they aren't a whole lot bigger than a quarter.
BTW, you can see the new dollars at:
http://www.usmint.gov/mint_programs/$1coin/index.cfm
I just found that earlier. I didn't know they were
going to do a whole series.. I might just stash
a few away. Probably will be pretty good collectors
items in a few years.. And the ones out of the
machines are mint, or near mint anyway.. The ones
I usually get from the post office look brand new.

Go ahead, Bill, tell him the truth.
Don't matter - it's still a buck. I found a few when they first came out but they are scarce now.

Bill
About as scarce as hens teeth:rofl:

That's what folks thought about the SAC dollar but they have to be low mintage and scarce to be worth anything - or a mint error. THe mint shucked out over a billion SAC dollars so I don't think they will ever be scarce. The Mint even spent $40 million on an ad campaign to convince people to spend the SACS, but they still hoard them. The new dollars will be no different. People are hoarding them just like the SACS. How many do you see in circulation?

Bill
I found one in a roll of half dollars the other day and spent it at the store. So I know there is one:rofl:

Waite till they get rid of the $1 bill! MAN, then you be skipping out the door to find them. Not only that, but they will be a common find then! YeHaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!

I think the attraction will be the presidents, rather
than being dollar coins. Will be similar to the
state quarters.. Not worth much now, and probably
won't for a while, but I bet the president dollars
will be more collectable than most all the other new
types a few years in the future. I guess the worth
would depend on how many are minted.
I spend most all of the dollar coins I get as far as
SAC's, etc. Ditto for all the statehood quarters I've
gotten so far.

They will be, if they only do a president for one
year each. I'm not saying they will be worth much,
but they will be collectors items.
The reason I would consider stashing a few away is
not for the investment. It's to stash away clean
near mint coins, so when you later decide to collect
the series, you don't have to bend over for some
high $$$ collector to get a mint clean one.
It's like the state quarters. I never bothered
collecting them. But if I later decided to, the first
years are getting harder to find in clean condition.
Most are getting scratched, etc.. If you want a clean
one, you will pay more than a quarter for it, even now..
I don't collect new coins to make money. The amount of
potential profit involved is not worth my time..
But it would be kinda neat to have a complete clean set
of them just for historical value. If they only do one
a year, it will take 40+ years to cover them all, and
of course, the number will increase every 4-8 years
depending on how fast a prez can get booted out of
office. :/
