Took the AT PRO out to the woods for the first time this season and about 2 hours into detecting the arm cuff breaks in two!! Has this ever happen to anyone else? It's happen to one of my other machines, but they have beefed up their arm cuffs since then. Anyway I did a MacGyver number and took the strap off my shovel and strapped the detector to my arm it worked well enough to say for a while longer. Now I hope Garrett can get me a new cuff by next weekend( fingers crossed) LOL Also found a tomb stone laying against a tree in the middle of the woods! (spooky thing). Today's finds were 3 flat buttons and a 1899 Indian Head penny. H/H JOE in MD

Looks like a great site. So far I have broken 3 arm cuffs mostly by getting the coil caught in underbrush. Garrett has been good at replacing them. but it takes a few days. I beefed up the current one with aluminum sheet rolled to the inside radius with the foam removed. I then glued and pop riveted the alum to the cuff. It is holding well and I hunt some thick brushy spots.

The same thing happened to me a week ago. Luckily there is a md store a half hour from my house and they had one in stock. 3.75 for the cuff and 1.75 for the new foam.

wasn't any weeds or underbrush near mine when it broke. Maybe we can get one made with UHMW or light metal. Always seems to happen when you are hunting a great spot

Dang fellers! What are you, arm wrestlers? I barely have enough strength to unleash the velcro let alone snap the cuff off! Well Done!

I had mine break as well on my AT Gold just last week. It comes from having skiiny forearms. If I had real guns the velcro strap would not cause the cuff to break. (lol)

I made a new one from a 4" pipe coupling.

I hate them plastic arm cuffs just good for breaking as soon as I get a new detector it's the first thing to go.
I replaced it with an alumiun one I make I did my garett 250 and my 705 like this ,I just ordered me a new AT pro.
And when it arrives the cuff and bottom stand will be replaced. These are super light and will last forever.

The cuff broke on me too, in two different places. The first time I superglued and siliconed it. It was still holding when it broke in a different spot a few weeks later, then I put on a new one.

The bad news is the cuff is apparently a weak spot on the detector, the good news is you can count on Garrett sending you a replacement PDQ.

I never thought this was possible breakage. :surprised:And it seems that there are several affected .... hopefully not an "epidemic" :stretcher:
Is this damage is covered by the manufacturer's warranty?:garrett:
Best regards

My partner had one break and Garrett sent a new one right out, no problems. Mine has held up fine so far.

Naw...not a epidemic...I've had mine since they 1st came out, what almost 2yrs now,and haven't broke mine...and yes it's covered...

I broke the arm cuff on the ATG after a couple of months of use. My hunting buddy had the same thing happen. We both use our machines mostly for water hunting so this does create some added stress when you swing the detector back and forth. A quick call to Garrett and we had replacements within three days. However, I believe that Garrett needs to look into beefing up their design in this area for an otherwise, solid machine.
