Andy..... Question on your Patterns.....

I am sure you are busy, but as a discrimination minimalist, my curiosity has finally gotten the best of me....On pg 50 of your E-trac handbook, there is a figure with 5 different discrimination patterns, I presume are yours. I was wondering, that when you had time, maybe you could post a few of these patterns, with a little explanation of your thought process in designing these patterns, such as the level of discrimination, vs potential loss of targets, etc. Do you design these site specific patterns based on your prior experience at the sites (finds vs. trash targets), or what you anticipate finding at a particular site (age/ site specific history). As good as people say the "see thru" ability of the E-trac is, I cant seem to get myself away from the Extensive nail reject pattern or the UK Roman pattern. I am sure that overall, many of the trashy sites I hunt could probably benefit from more refined discrimination, yet I have found good targets all over the Fe-Co scale making me hesitant to actually use greater discrimination. Thanks!

Be happy to share some of the Pattern and Mode files I have . . . I posted one that many have found to work quite well with a bit of tweaking for specific targets - especially for hunting non-US sites.

Here is a link to the previous post which should give you what you were looking for.

Effective Coin Hunting Pattern

If this helps, I can post some of the other patterns as well . . . .

Andy

That was just the type of explanation I was looking for.... Just kicking myself for not being able to find it when I searched the forum. I would be interested in seeing a couple of other patterns like your manicured lawn ptrn just to see how much discrimination you apply under other circumstances.
Regards,
Keith

Good way to show what is being rejected and why . . . . also looking forward to seeing some of your other patterns explained this way . . . . thanks for taking the time to do it

Andy,

Could you possibly post one of your beach programs with a like explanation. I will be hunting the Texas coast near Corpus Christi.

Thanks,
Mark
