Hey there folks. Josh from Seattle. Ive had my 250 for a week now.. been out of the hobby for a couple years but was quite into my XLT a couple years ago before I had to sell it. I didn't think I'd ever like a detector as much as I did the spectrum but the 250 is a trooper.
My hunt has been limited to my front yard and a local park, but I think I've done quite well, considering. My first target, no kidding, about two feet from my porch steps, gave me a two-for-one wheat and a 1953 roosey! 10 minutes later and about 10 feet away I found a key attached to a holed 1958 Australian silver florin. How random is that? It's on my key chain now. A couple pieces of cheap jewelery also turned up, but I think my favorite find was the Match King striker lighter. The house is from 1900 or so, and I saw a very similar lighter on ebay saying the lighter was from the early to mid 30s.
Two days later, few blocks away at the local park... I was in the 'dig everything' mentality while I was still acquainting myself with it.. I got one of those nickel hits that jumps around faster than a barefoot kid on blacktop. I dug it anyway and at about 5 inches pulled out an 1897 V nickel. In Seattle! Heck I didn't even think we were around back then.
I'll put some pics on when i can find the cord that attaches my computer to my camera. Great tips, great forum. Especially liked the pinpointing vid, very helpful.
